Attention

There are problems with running the EEG Monitor software on Intel Core 2 Duo and AMD Atlon X2 processors. The graphic processing of the amplifier data of the monitor will distrube by mouse movements. This has to do with multi-core architecture and Hyper-Threading technology.

Braintronics is working on a solution.

For the moment there is a solution to solve most of the problems (not all) The program to use for this is Imagecfg.exe. You can find it on the web or get it off of a Windows 2000 or Windows XP Server Resource Kit.

Place this tool in the same directory where also TCPIP_EEG_Monitor.exe is located.

Imagecfg.exe will work with Windows XP(32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and hopefully Windows Vista. It is a permanent change to the file, so make a backup before testing.

To set a process's affinity use "imagecfg -a 0xn [File Path] [File Name]

Replace n with the CPU you want the process to use.

1 = CPU0
2 = CPU1
4 = CPU2
8 = CPU3

So if you wanted to set:

C:\Program files\BRAINTRONICS\TCPIP_EEG_Monitor.exe to use the second CPU(CPU1) it would look like this:

imagecfg -a 0x2 C:\Program files\BRAINTRONICS\TCPIP_EEG_Monitor.exe

For dual core or dual CPU users both CPUs will perform equally, but with HyperThreading enabled systems the first CPU (CPU0) is faster, because the 2nd CPU is just a virtual CPU recycling unused cycles from the first CPU.

All the software on this page is only tested in a Windows XP environment. Running these software programs under a Windows Vista Operating System will give problems and is not recomended.

There is a special version of the EEG Monitor with EDF-recording functionality.

European Data Format (EDF) is a standard file format designed for exchange and storage of medical time series. EDF stores multichannel data allowing different sample rates for each signal. Internally it includes a header and one or more data records. The header contains information on the whole recording (patient identification, start time...) and on each included signal (filtering, sampling rate...) coded as ASCII characters.
